The Right Coffee?

Posted in News on

During the year we get lots of people dropping in to see us at the Roastery Showroom in Huntsville. One of the benefits is that we are able to provide one on one advice to answer a fairly consistent question - which of your coffees is right for me? We recognize that everyone is different. That is why we developed our portfolio to cover a full range of tastes and a wide span of roast levels. From the darkest roast you will find anywhere, with ... Continue Reading

Sold Out

Posted in News on

The first coffee in our limited edition series - Algonquin Frontier - has sold out, and the feedback has been not only great, but much appreciated. Lots of comments that the coffee was bold, full bodied, rich and bursting with aroma, as well as one very sophisticated palette that picked up sweet bittersweet chocolate, tangerine and citrus For sure we will bring Algonquin Frontier back in 2014 for a limited run. Make certain that you don't mis... Continue Reading

Soggy Spring

Greetings from a wet and flooded Muskoka. Let's start with the good news. The Roastery is high and dry, and we haven't experienced any disruptions to our roasting or delivery schedule. The impact on the community and some employees has been rather less positive. Record flooding resulted from a cold April that kept the ground frozen, so that the snow melt and torrential rainstorms of last week flowed directly into the waterways. It has been a ... This week the Muskoka Conservancy announced that they will be using the 2013 funding from the Muskoka Roastery Coffee Co to steward 250 acres of nature reserves in Muskoka. The first property that we have "adopted' is the Musquash Road Nature Reserve - 195 acres that is surrounded by, and managed as part of the Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Reserve. We are pleased to work with the good folks at the Muskoka Conservancy and support their efforts to... Continue Reading

Carbon Neutral

Posted in News on

Those of you who follow us closely know that we have been working on becoming carbon neutral for a while now. We don't want to claim that it is hard, because it really isn't, but we have found it challenging to find an offset program that is well aligned to our mission. Thankfully, we have finally achieved that goal! Before detailing the partner we have chosen, it is important that we lay out exactly how we elected to offset our carbon emissi... Continue Reading

Traceability

Posted in News on

What exactly is traceability and why does it matter? Put simply, you are paying a premium price to purchase coffee from the Muskoka Roastery that carries the Rainforest Alliance seal, which designates that 100% of our coffee is sourced from Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM farms. Your investment (and more) goes directly to the farmers in developing countries to do all the good things described in our Sustain section. But, how can you be sure th... Continue Reading
